Internal coalitions

Published by Campbell Storey on July 7, 2013

Even if an idea is brilliant, it will stumble around like a little deer on a frozen pond, unless you build a coalition to help it. All companies, big and small, are much more likely to take up one of your ideas if you make sure that you talk through the stakeholders before the delivery. Every idea has an ultimate sign off person and of course you need to get them onside. But each idea has many midwives at all different levels within an organization. Work out who they are and make a pitch to each of them. There’s many a successful idea which doesn’t make it to the market because it is held up by someone who you didn’t talk to.
